As London Fashion Week is approaching, I wanted to speak about this season’s hottest colour. Dominating the SS17 catwalk and presentations was the statement colour known as coral. The sun-drenched tones inspired by tropical destinations packs a punch. Vibrancy was a huge theme for designers this season, with a powerful spectrum of colours, from sparkly golds, to bold reds. Embody confidence and colour this season, by demanding attention through your attire. Power-dressing has recently had a buzz surrounding it. Not the typical political attire of boxy neutral toned suits, rather more style friendly. Think Michelle Obama and less Hilary Clinton. There’s a new age in power-dressing, style and dominance go hand-in-hand. In Madrid, Roberto Torreta used colourful coral tones to add feminine charm to power-dressing. One way you could work this into your daily outfit is through silky fabrics, with ribbon or bow detailing (optional). The texture implies luxe style, femininity yet influential like Egyptian queens such as Cleopatra, or Nefertiti. This trend doesn’t exclude the men either. Though reflecting feminine qualities, it can be reworked to amplify the peach hues which has been apparent across sportswear, formal attire, and even denim. Prime examples of intense hues would be Hugo Boss with their shirt collection, or sweaters by Stone Island. For a peachier pastel tone, many opt for an athletic bomber jacket or a pair of tailored trousers.
